Laura Tyson, MA
Laura Tyson has led an adventurous life since her self-initiated and planned ‘bike hike’ at 5 years old. She has traveled in Alaska, Asia, North Africa, South and Central America, Europe, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. Her wildest adventure was a solo bike trip across Tibet in 1985. She is the founder of The Women’s Wilderness Institute, where she served as Executive Director for ten years, and currently runs a program for female combat veterans. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology, and has held roles of psychotherapist, wilderness guide, poet, writer, and nonprofit consultant. Currently she is building a solar house in Colorado, directing an outdoor retreat program for women combat veterans, and developing True Nature Journeys- customized international trips for the soul and spirit. Her international guiding work combines her passions for helping people create vibrant lives, empowering women, and exploring the landscapes and cultures of our beautiful planet.
Katie Asmus, M.A., LPC
For Katie, life is an unending journey and adventure. She describes her life purpose as “bringing forth the innate wisdom within every-BODY,” and “opening people’s minds and hearts to greater possibilities”. Katie is the founder of Namaste Healing Arts, a multi-dimensional Therapeutic and Educationally based organization, incorporating Wilderness and Body-Centered Psychotherapies in a variety of venues worldwide.
In addition, Katie leads wilderness based trips for The Women’s Wilderness Institute and Outward Bound, is on the faculty at Naropa University and Prescott College, and has a private coaching and psychotherapy practice in Boulder,CO. Katie incorporates present-moment awareness, creative arts, relationship to the natural world, and body-mind connection to support people in connecting to themselves, others, and life more deeply.
